On October 7, 2024, the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce joined forces with NJ Transit and several local organizations to host the Empower U - DBE Certification Webinar, a virtual event designed to support and empower small businesses. This collaborative effort brought together leaders and experts from the Hudson County Economic Development Corporation (HCEDC), Hudson County Office of Business Opportunity, and the New Jersey Small Business Development Center at NJCU (NJSBDC) to provide valuable insights and resources for entrepreneurs.
During the webinar, the Chamber and its partners introduced attendees to their respective programs aimed at fostering small business growth. From funding opportunities and training programs to support for navigating regulatory landscapes, the session emphasized the wealth of resources available to local businesses.
NJ Transit took the lead in guiding participants through the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Certification process. Attendees learned about the certification's potential to unlock new opportunities, including access to government contracts and greater visibility in competitive markets. NJ Transit also shared strategies for leveraging DBE status to grow and scale business operations.
The Empower U Webinar exemplifies the Chamber’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurship and building pathways for small business success. By partnering with NJ Transit and other key organizations, the event helped connect local businesses with actionable resources and the tools they need to thrive in today’s economy.
